A Dream of Red Roses at Thicket Priory | Luxe Winter Sun

Nestled in the North Yorkshire countryside, just a 20-minute journey from York, Thicket Priory is one of my favourite local venue's; the epitome of elegant, exclusive-use wedding venues where timeless architecture, romantic interiors, and 18 acres of tranquil grounds converge to create pure bridal magic.
With its grand Ballroom, secret nooks like the Morning Room, a private Chapel, and even a helipad, this historic Victorian house invites tradition and luxury into every frame; an ideal canvas for a gorgeous Wedding story.
Against the backdrop of Thicket Priory’s glow in the winter sun, we envisioned a lush palette of red roses, dreamy light, divine gowns, and opulent styling, all brought to life under the expert eye of Jen at My Prettiest Workshop's, who curates editorial experiences for photographers, videographers, and content creators.
Chloe Jane Bridal Wear in Howden provided the divine dresses, each silhouette whispering romance and refinement, while Jen also crafted arrangements of deep crimson roses that felt sumptuous and profoundly luxe.
As the Luxury Bridal Makeup Artist, I delighted in designing looks that echoed both the frost-kissed atmosphere and the bold beauty of the styling. Having been lucky enough to do the makeup previously for both of our beautiful Bridal Models, I knew exactly the products I wanted to opt for the second I saw the beautifiul brief from Jen;
For Zara, I opted for an “English rose” aesthetic with soft, warm tones, muted rose shades, and my signature Signature Glowing Skin Makeup. This created a natural, luminous glow that felt both romantic bridal makeup and timeless bridal beauty, offering a delicate harmony with the rose-laden venue.
For Estelle, I channelled full Italian bombshell glamour with a rich red lip, vampy sexy eyes, and fluttering full lashes. It was all about confident, luxurious contrast; where soft glam bridal makeup meets sultry drama.
For both Brides; I knew what enhanced their features and what would photograph flawlessly under what can often be harsh winter lighting. We were also lucky enough that day to have Alfie at Clique Visuals for Videography and Content by Lauren C with us, so as always I made sure the skin looked 10/10 on video too. The result was two incredibly beautiful looks I was so proud of; one of delicate glow and the other of bold elegance — each pairing complementing the styled aesthetic of the venue.
Stepping into Thicket Priory felt like entering a winter fairytale. The Morning Room bathed in dreamy light (which you'll see in the images below!) the historic staircases whispering romance, and the Ballroom ready to host grand celebrations; it is the kind of setting made for elegant bridal looks to shine. My makeup choices harmonised with these elements, reinforcing the venue’s ethereal beauty while keeping each model feeling utterly herself. The romance of red roses against creamy light was honestly breathtaking, and in every frame whether video or photo, the makeup still managed to give both warmth and a timeless feel.
Whether it was Zara’s radiant, soft glow or Estelle’s striking, glamorous statement, each bride radiated confidence, luxury, and glamour.
For brides seeking something fresh yet timeless, this shoot is the embodiment of Ethereal Skin meeting a Red Carpet Makeup Look, marrying the glow of modern softness with the classic allure of statement glamour. A look like this would compliment any venue; from a gorgeous Yorkshire Wedding, to a Destination Wedding in the hills of Tuscany. They are both long wearing, yet lightweight. Comfortable for a full day, yet flawless in how they look; allowing you to feel your most confident and radiant self. The Skin work itself I was particulary proud of, as I really wanted to show the versatility of soft glam bridal makeup across any season and venue style.
Please see below for the ultimate team, and just a handful of galleries. I was utterly spoilt for choice in choosing which to showcase!
